Orientation, team spirit and first insights into everyday training

With the start of the new training year on 1 September, we were delighted to welcome our new apprentices and dual students to Volkswagen Group Digital Solutions.

Two exciting and varied onboarding weeks at the office were designed to help our new talents settle into their training programs and the company.

The onboarding covered much more than technical equipment and organizational topics. Of course, our new talents learned how to set up their laptops and use important software.

They also gained practical insights into day-to-day collaboration within our company and learned how to use Outlook and Microsoft Teams professionally. In addition, they learned how to maintain their training records and timesheets, how to report sick correctly, how vacation and overtime are handled for them, and which organizational processes will accompany them throughout their training.

Another important part of the program was getting to know the legal and professional foundations of their training. Among other things, our new talents explored their rights and responsibilities as apprentices, the German Vocational Training Act (Berufsbildungsgesetz), and the training framework plan that will guide their professional development.

To make the onboarding days varied, practical and engaging, our experienced apprentices and dual students developed a range of activities that brought the content to life and encouraged active participation.

With great commitment, they supported their new colleagues throughout their first few days, shared their personal experiences, answered questions and provided practical tips for everyday life as an apprentice or dual student. Their open, helpful and responsible approach created an atmosphere in which our new talents quickly felt welcome and well supported.

Several training supervisors also stopped by to say hello and briefly explain what the new apprentices and students can expect in their respective departments.

This collaboration once again demonstrates what makes our training programs special: knowledge is not only taught, but actively shared. This creates a strong network in which people learn from one another, support each other and grow together.

“I am proud of our apprentices and dual students. Every day, they show how much responsibility they are already able to take on. They support our new talents, explain connections in an easy-to-understand way, and provide both confidence and a strong sense of team spirit in everyday working life.

At the same time, they contribute their own creative ideas and actively help shape the framework provided to them. Seeing how they continue to grow themselves and develop from young talents into confident contributors is one of the most rewarding aspects of our work.”
