Changing perspectives and strengthening cooperation
At the beginning of June 2025, a hybrid workshop took place in Wolfsburg under the motto "One Group – One MAXIMO Team".
The MAXIMO team was pleased to welcome two colleagues from Pune, India. Other team members from the ITS joined virtually.
The aim of the meeting was to strengthen international cooperation, advance strategic issues and jointly set the course for the support of the new MAXIMO version (MAS 9), which is expected to go live at the turn of the year.
MAXIMO is an IBM application that is used in all German plants of Volkswagen AG in the field of maintenance. It takes on central functions for materials management, order management (fault clearance, inspection, maintenance) as well as for the analysis of costs and the optimization of the use of resources.
The focus of the visit was on the development of a monitoring system for MAS 9. This challenge is to be mastered by both teams in parallel to their daily work. For this reason, existing processes were analyzed, potential for improvement was identified and concrete measures were developed to optimize cooperation. The focus was on topics such as task distribution, capacity planning and meeting structures.
After clarifying the framework conditions, some workshops took place in which the project "MAS9 Monitoring" was initialized and initial concepts for the use of Grafana, Loki and Prometheus were developed. The focus was, among other things, on clear responsibilities, standardized requirements management, knowledge development in the team and initial ideas for the procedure.
“The workshop between the Volkswagen Group Digital Solutions Germany and Volkswagen Group Digital Solutions India teams in Wolfsburg was a tremendous success. We explored innovative ideas, aligned on strategic goals, and strengthened our cross-functional collaboration.
The energy, insights, and teamwork on display were truly inspiring.”
„Especially the personal exchange was a highlight for me. The colleagues were - open, collegial and full of energy. In addition, with the help of the agile pilots, we were able to create a strong foundation on which we will now continue to build together“
"The visit to the commercial vehicle plant in Hannover was truly impressive. I was amazed by the sheer size of the facility, the high level of automation in the production process, and especially the direct interaction with the very knowledgeable key users."
A special highlight was the visit to the Volkswagen plant in Hanover. In addition to a factory tour, the focus was on personal exchange. For our guests from India, the direct insight into practice was particularly valuable. For example, they were able to experience MAXIMO in real use in the engine warehouse and in battery production – a change of perspective that provided new impetus for understanding in the event of support and the further development of the application.
This joint week was a successful start to a closer cooperation. It is now necessary to implement the identified efficiency measures, implement the monitoring system and promote continuous exchange between the teams.
