The fifth edition of I.mobilothon, hosted by Volkswagen Group Digital Solutions [India], marked a milestone in fostering open innovation and cross-functional collaboration.
What began as a regional initiative has now expanded into a global platform, with Germany joining for the first time this edition. Held across four locations, the hackathon spanned Pune, Gurugram, and Bangalore in India (October 10–11) and Germany (October 9–10).
The expanded format brought together a diverse pool of participants, encouraging the exchange of ideas and reinforcing the spirit of collaboration that drives the Volkswagen Group’s digital transformation.

Challenges Rooted in Real-World Needs
At the heart of I.mobilothon 5.0 were 25 problem statements, each crafted by various brands and companies within the Volkswagen Group. These challenges reflected real business needs and strategic priorities, ranging from mobility and sustainability to digital customer experiences, offering participants a chance to contribute meaningfully to the Group’s innovation pipeline.
A Vibrant Community of Innovators
The response to this year’s hackathon was overwhelming, with over 400 participants across India’s three host cities and 34+ from Germany, bringing diverse skills, fresh perspectives, and technical depth to the event.
Over the course of two days, teams immersed themselves in the challenges, collaborating across disciplines and time zones. The atmosphere was electric—marked by intense brainstorming, rapid prototyping, and a shared commitment to solving complex problems. The diversity of backgrounds—from engineering and design to strategy and analytics—created a fertile ground for innovation.
From Ideas to Impact
The hackathon concluded with 115+ solutions submitted, each reflecting the creativity, rigor, and passion of the teams involved. These submissions are under review by an expert-led jury evaluating them based on innovation, feasibility, and alignment with the Group’s strategic goals.

The journey of I.mobilothon 5.0 will culminate in a finale event on 26th November, showcasing the winning teams and their solutions while celebrating the spirit of collaboration and the Group’s commitment to nurturing digital talent.
